In this Society consideration is given to the situation of the Shoulder and Elbow surgery in the African countries with highly variable and wide-ranging numbers of practicing Orthopedic Surgeons and allied health professionals. It is initiated by the two active shoulder societies in Africa, the Egyptian Shoulder Surgery Association and the Society of South African Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons. The purpose of this society is to establish a scientific cooperation and to provide for continuing training of African orthopedic surgeons specialized in surgery of the shoulder and elbow to contribute to the development of the physiological, pathological and therapeutic study of the shoulder and elbow joints.
